GO DEEPER
OUR STORY
At Firebird Floor Coating, our strength lies in the seamless blend of design, hands-on craft, and operational precision that our three co-owners bring to every project. Founded on a shared commitment to uncompromising quality and hard work, we unite three distinct skill sets to deliver epoxy/polyaspartic floor coatings that are as stunning as they are indestructible.
Together, our synergy creates a complete, end-to-end experience for our clients. Chris envisions the space and crafts the design, Matt executes the technical installation with precision, and Diana keeps the operation running like clockwork. Whether transformed into a pristine showroom or a tough-as-nails workspace, a Firebird floor is built from the ground up by a team that lives and breathes craftsmanship.
TEAM BIOS

Chris
CHRIS
Born and raised in Minnesota, Chris grew up around small town home construction, learning early on to admire his Grandpa Herb’s inventive solutions to everyday problems. As a competitive state champion swimmer and Boy Scout through his teenage years, he developed the discipline, technical skills, and work ethic that still drive him today. Chris later moved to Los Angeles to work in the film industry, sharpening his leadership skills and mastering the art of high-stakes problem-solving on set. Returning to Minnesota, he married his wife, Diana, in 1996. Over three decades together, he’s refined the art of listening, patience, and balance—traits that serve him just as well in the workplace as they do in life. Across a 20-year career as a kitchen and bath designer, Chris has led multiple design departments into multi-million dollar operations. Rather than approaching design as a self-interested artist, he operates as an empathetic problem solver. He listens closely to his clients, placing their needs, usability, and practicality at the forefront of every project—without ever sacrificing visual appeal. Combining a passion for classic iron with high-performance concrete coatings, Chris turns his lifelong drive to wrench on and race everything from high horsepower muscle cars and nimble sports cars to low-slung rat rods into crafting garage floors tough enough to handle every project.

MATT
MATT
A former professional hockey player turned epoxy flooring specialist, Matt spent his youth traveling from rink to rink, pursuing a lifelong passion for the game. That dedication paid off in a decade-long career in minor league hockey, fulfilling a childhood dream built on discipline, grit, and teamwork. During his offseasons, Matt channeled that same work ethic into hands-on trades, gaining valuable experience in concrete, hardwood, carpet, and epoxy installation. Following his retirement from the ice, epoxy flooring became his primary craft—combining his technical skill with a relentless focus on quality. Off the job site, Matt and his wife, Rebecca, whom he married in 2012, are busy raising their three children. You can still find Matt at the rink as a volunteer coach for his son’s hockey team, or spending summers and autumns at the ballfields cheering on his kids. Whether coaching on the ice or installing a high-performance floor, Matt leads by example, teaching his children that there are no shortcuts to excellence—you have to put in the work to get the best outcome.

DIANA
DIANA
Though born in California, Diana is as Minnesotan as they come. She learned the value of hard work early on—mostly while holding the flashlight for her dad during endless home improvement projects and taking notes on how to build things right. That passion for crafting and executing ideas led her to high school stage crew, where she spent her evenings building sets and running light boards, while honing her commercial drive through Future Business Leaders of America. That early blend of technical execution and business focus paved the way for an incredible 30-year corporate career. Having managed key initiatives for powerhouse brands like Visa International, Spartan Nash, Best Buy, and Fingerhut, Diana pairs enterprise-grade business savvy with deep technical expertise—bringing big-picture vision and hands-on skill to every endeavor.
